I am fortunate these days to call the Sky Islands of southern Arizona my home. This area offers such a variety of stunning views and landforms that one is easily tempted to paint landscapes.

I am drawn more deeply to the geology and biogeography of this place, thinking in terms eons past, present, and future. The mountains are being uplifted right now. The slopes are eroding now. And the arroyos are changing course every day. There is a pulse and hum of constant activity, almost imperceptible at times, and this is the life force that keeps me going and keeps me coming back to the Land.
